New Online Check-in & New Check-in Policy Start Monday, May 6
May 3rd, 2019
Richmond, BC – Pacific Coastal Airlines introduces new self-serve, online check-in service effective Monday, May 6.
Quick and convenient, Pacific Coastal’s new self-serve, online check-in service provides customers with the option to check-in for their flight from any computer between twenty-four (24) hours and up to one (1) hour ahead of scheduled flight time. Online check-in will also allow customers to pre-pay for any checked baggage or ancillary items online to save passengers even more time when dropping off their checked baggage. Upon completion of the online check-in, customers can either print a boarding pass from their home or have an electronic boarding pass emailed to their mobile device to display at the time of boarding.
Pacific Coastal is in the final stages of developing a mobile friendly version of online check-in that will be available in the near future.
An additional benefit for online check-in customers departing from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) South Terminal, is the option to drop their checked baggage at a dedicated checked baggage drop counter located inside South Terminal, without having to stand in line at the check-in counter.
Pacific Coastal expects to see a reduction in passenger check-ins at counters, especially in Vancouver, speeding up the processing time for passengers and improving their travel experience.
“We’re happy to finally offer this new self-serve online check-in service, which has become a standard option in the airline industry and for customers over the past several years,” says Pacific Coastal V.P. Commercial Services, Johnathan Richardson.
Changes to Check-In Times
In addition to the launch of the new self-serve online check-in service, Pacific Coastal is revising its check-in time policy. Effective May 6, Pacific Coastal check-in counters will close forty (40) minutes ahead of the scheduled flight departure time. Passengers not checked-in or who have not checked in baggage at that time may be denied boarding.
“We will continue to recommend to our customers, who wish to still check-in with one of our agents, to arrive at the airport earlier enough to be checked-in 60 minutes prior to their scheduled departure time,” says Laura Nadin-Young, Vice President of Airports and Operations Centre. “The new forty-minute check-in closing time will improve our on time performance, and ensure our customers arrive at their destination on time” says Nadin-Young.
With the introduction of online check-in, customers who are not travelling with checked baggage and who do not require special assistance can now proceed directly to the departure gate. Pacific Coastal advises passengers to be present and available for boarding at the gate no later than thirty (30) minutes ahead of their scheduled departure time.
