Check-in

Check-in Time

Customers should check-in at least 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time with appropriate valid government-issued identification. Please note we cannot accept expired ID for travel. Check-in and checked baggage acceptance closes 40 minutes prior to scheduled departure time. Failure to be checked-in prior to closing may result in the cancellation of your entire reservation. As per Transport Canada, Identity Screening Regulations require all passengers who appear 18 years of age or older to present ID at check-in and when boarding.

Please ensure that you are present and available for boarding at the departure gate 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time of your flight.

Online Check-in

Online check-in is the fastest and easiest way to check-in for your flight and is available between 24 hours and 1 hour prior to scheduled departure times. During online check-in you can prepay for checked baggage and obtain an electronic boarding pass.

At this time online check-in is not available for:

  • Passengers who require special assistance
  • Unaccompanied minors
  • Passengers traveling on Express Tickets or Medical Fares
  • Passengers traveling with pets either in the cabin or checked-in
  • Passengers traveling with a service animal
  • Passengers traveling on BCAA or ISIC Student discount (as member ID must be shown at check-in)

Should you require assistance to check-in for your flight, please arrive at the airport earlier enough to be checked-in 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time of you flight. Please note that we cannot check-in customers in via our call centre.

If you are traveling with checked baggage we recommend that you drop off your checked baggage 60 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time with one of our agents at our check-in counters. Checked baggage acceptance closes 40 minutes prior to scheduled departure time.

Vancouver International Airport’s South Terminal

Pacific Coastal Airlines operates from the South Terminal of the Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Parking is also conveniently located across from the South Terminal Building. Parking is administered by the YVR Airport Authority, and prices are subject to change without notice. Please visit YVR’s parking page for the latest information.

Please note that effective September 30, 2020, the YVR South Terminal shuttle resumed operations. YVR will be operating their hybrid buses and the addition of a new stop at the floatplane dock.

The full schedule is available at the pick-up locations. The pick-up times vary by day with a frequency of every 30 minutes. The stops include the International Terminal, Domestic Terminal, South Terminal and Float Plane Dock. Updates and more information can be found on YVR’s website.

Identity Screening Regulations

As per Transport Canada, Identity Screening Regulations require all passengers 18 years of age and older travelling on Pacific Coastal Airlines, regardless of origin or destination, to present a valid (non-expired) government-issued ID to travel. A photocopy is NOT accepted. Aircraft Type

Pacific Coastal Airlines operates Saab 340 and Beechcraft 1900 aircraft. Click here for more details about our fleet. Beechcraft 1900 aircraft do not have overhead bins for carry-on baggage and are not equipped with an onboard lavatory. Saab 340 aircraft have overhead bins for carry-on baggage and are equipped with an onboard lavatory. Please note that aircraft type is subject to change without notice.

Infants

At check-in we will ask for ID for infants who have not yet reached the age of two and are travelling for free. Birth certificates, passports, care cards, and status cards are examples of acceptable forms of ID. Photocopies are accepted. If ID is not present at check-in and an infant’s age called into question we will charge for a seat, but will gladly refund that seat in full if ID is produced after the fact.

Minimum Connecting Time

We advise our passengers to allow themselves a minimum of  2 hours domestic to domestic and 3 hours domestic to international/USA v.v. as minimum connecting times when changing between YVR Main Terminal & YVR South Terminal. It is also recommended to check with your connecting airline.

In Vancouver, departures and arrivals with Pacific Coastal Airlines are hosted at the South Terminal.

Pacific Coastal Airlines is not responsible for missed connections.

Security Screening Regulations

Transport Canada requires all Pacific Coastal Airlines passengers to pass through preboard screening when travelling to a secured airport destination within our network. Secured airports include Vancouver*, Victoria, Williams Lake, Cranbrook, Comox, Campbell River, Kamloops, Penticton, Prince George and Kelowna.

*Flights departing from an unsecured airport fly to Vancouver are not required to go through preboard screening.

Items exempt from restrictions include: Baby formula, baby food, and milk for passengers travelling with infants under 24-months of age and prescription medications.
