The Powell River Airport is set to undergo a comprehensive runway, pavement, and electrical rehabilitation as outlined in their 2020-2045 Airport Master Plan. With the existing runway pavement nearing 40 years, this essential rehabilitation and re-profiling are necessary to meet the latest TP312-5th Aerodrome Standards.

The Powell River Airport (YPW) is about to undergo a comprehensive runway, pavement, and electrical rehabilitation. The existing runway pavement, nearing 40 years, requires essential rehabilitation and re-profiling. For detailed project information, you can visit the City of Powell River’s website.

The City of Powell River has informed Pacific Coastal Airlines that the Powell River Airport (YPW) will be undergoing a comprehensive runway, pavement, and electrical rehabilitation, which will force a full closure of the runway. As a result, Pacific Coastal Airlines must temporarily suspend all passenger flight and cargo services to/from Powell River from April 8 to June 9, 2024, inclusive.

Passengers with reservations during the service disruption period have the following options:

  1. Cancel your reservation for a full travel credit. The flight value will be held as a travel credit and can be applied towards a future flight with Pacific Coastal Airlines. Travel credits are available for use for travel completed within 12 months from the date of original purchase;
  2. Change your reservation to alternate date(s) and/or flight(s), with no applicable change fee or fare difference;
  3. Change your reservation to fly in/out of Comox, with no applicable change fee or fare difference. Please note that Pacific Coastal Airlines is not responsible for reimbursing passengers the additional expenses incurred to travel between Comox and Powell River; or,
  4. Cancel your reservation for a full refund to your original form of payment.
