On May 30, 2024, the lush greens of Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club in Richmond, B.C., witnessed a remarkable celebration of community spirit and philanthropy. We hosted our 30th Annual Charity Memorial Golf Tournament, marking three decades of commitment to making a positive impact in the communities that we serve. This year’s event was particularly memorable, raising an impressive $110,000 for local charities, showcasing the generosity and dedication of all those involved.
SECOND HIGHEST AMOUNT RAISED IN OUR HISTORY
Our Annual Charity Memorial Golf Tournament continues to thrive and benefit from the generosity of out Title Sponsor, Canadian Western Bank, who have been supporting this event for the past 19 years! This event would not have been possible without the continued dedication and support from all of our sponsors, donors, participants, and volunteers. Together we fostered another successful charitable event raising the second highest amount of funds in the tournament’s history, just behind our record-breaking year in 2023. The success of this year’s tournament reflects the strong community bonds and the unwavering support for charitable causes.
For the second year, in collaboration with the British Columbia Aviation Council (BCAC), we funded three $10,000 scholarships for students pursuing careers in aviation. The $10,000 Pacific Coastal Airlines, Daryl Smith Memorial Indigenous Youth Aviation Scholarship, and the $10,000 Pacific Coastal Airlines, Paul Biglin Memorial, Indigenous Youth Aviation Scholarship are open to any Indigenous students across Canada who are attending school in BC. The scholarships are awarded to students who are actively pursuing training as a pilot, aircraft maintenance engineer (AME), flight attendant, flight operations, airport operations, or airline management and demonstrate a commitment to pursuing a career in aviation.
We were delighted to welcome the third and final year of our rotating charity, Power To Be, to once again be the recipient of a portion of the funding. Power To Be is a non-profit organization that creates access to nature for youth, families, and adults living with cognitive, physical, financial, and social barriers. During our three years of partnership with Power To Be we are delighted to share that we helped raised a total of $107,500 to support their charitable efforts.
The Source Club Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing educational, recreational and life skills programs for persons with mental illness based in Powell River, was our third charity supported this year and received $40,000 in funding.
Thanks to the work of our tournament volunteers and sponsors, the day also presented a chance for our staff, golfers and long-term industry partners to reconnect and learn about the charities benefiting from the proceeds raised. Nearly every hole had a unique experience, thanks to our many sponsors, including wine tasting by Red Rooster courtesy of Peller Estates & The Kelowna Wine Festival, beer tasting by Brookswood Brewing, golf cannon station, axe throwing, snowball fights, snack bars, food provided by Tacofino, Browns Socialhouse & Liberty Kitchen Browns Social House and the fan favourite Pasco-ritaville that served refreshing margaritas to golfers.
The entire team at Pacific Coastal Airlines extends a heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the 30th Annual Memorial Charity Golf Tournament. Special appreciation goes out to the volunteers and participants whose enthusiasm made the occasion so rememberable.
Mark your calendars for next year’s tournament on Thursday, May 29, 2025! Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or a first-time participant, we invite you to join us in celebrating community, enjoying a day of golf, and contributing to worthy causes. Together, we can continue to make a positive impact and uphold the spirit of generosity that defines Pacific Coastal Airlines and its extended family.
Here’s to many more years of success, community, and charity. See you on the greens next year!
With continued gratitude and admiration,
Pacific Coastal Airlines
