Update #1 – March 02, 2026 at 14:40 PT

At 13:05 PT, Pacific Coastal Airlines flight 8P207, a Saab 340B aircraft carrying 19 passengers and 3 crew members, landed at the Powell River Airport (YPW). Upon landing, the aircraft exited the runway threshold at low speed and came to a stop in the grass adjacent to the runway.

All 19 passengers and 3 crew members have been accounted for and confirmed safe.

 

Update #2 – March 02, 2026 at 16:19 PT

Pacific Coastal Airlines operational and maintenance teams were deployed to Powell River Airport (YPW) this afternoon to support response efforts related to flight 8P207, which exited the runway threshold after landing. Work is now underway to move the aircraft from the runway.

There are no reported injuries to passengers or crew members who were onboard flight 8P207.

Pacific Coastal Airlines staff have been assisting customers affected by the subsequent cancellations of flights 8P208, 8P216, and 8P217 on March 02, 2026. No additional flight changes or cancellations across our network are anticipated for March 03, 2026; however, we encourage customers to continue monitoring the status of their flights on our website for the most up‑to‑date information.

 

Update #3 – March 03, 2026 at 10:19 PT

During the evening of March 02, the aircraft involved in the incident was removed from the Powell River Airport runway. The runway has since reopened, and all Pacific Coastal Airlines flights between the Vancouver South Terminal (YVR) and Powell River (YPW) on March 03 are expected to operate as scheduled.

The aircraft that operated flight 8P207 on March 02 will undergo a comprehensive maintenance inspection before being released to operate any further flights.

Pacific Coastal Airlines extends its gratitude to the emergency services who responded quickly and professionally to this event.
