INFORMATION > Fares > Airfare Philosophy
On August 31st, 2010 Pacific Coastal Airlines introduced new "branded" fares that will redefine the way in which air travel will be sold by our company. Building on the strong Customer feedback received over the
past few years, our new simplified fare structure will offer Customers three value-added pricing
options tailored to meet their individual travel needs. With the introduction of these new branded fares,
Pacific Coastal Airlines will make flying within the province of BC more affordable than ever.
Our Customers told us that our former fare structure was at best confusing and at worst overpriced.
We're proud to say we listened and set off to wholly redesign our pricing model. We formed a team to evolve
our fares in order to provide the clarity and value our Customers were asking for.
The result is in evidence today with three easy-to-use airfare offerings, each with its own unique attributes. Our encore fare provides ultimate convenience for changes, cancellation, and seat availability. Bravo fare provides significant savings and affordability for when plans are made early and are unlikely to change. Classic fare offers a flexible compromise between the other two fares and is the best of both worlds.
Q&A
Question
Why name your fares encore, classic, and bravo? Why not something more descriptive like "saver" or "standard"?
Answer
Coming up with fare names was challenging, and we recognize that more descriptive names may have
better conveyed each fare's essence in the short term. However, when debating creative vs. descriptive, our team quickly realized that none of the three fares were inherently better than the other; each is useful to different travel habits and purposes and therefore has a unique personality. This led to a more creative
name to help honour each fare's individuality. We hope these names will become second nature to you.
